Split Primary Plums, 3 October 10-4pm
In this workshop, you’ll create a still life painting using a split primary palette, working with just six colours plus white to deepen your understanding of colour mixing and relationships.
You’ll explore loose mark-making, the contrast between transparent and opaque paint, and the balance of warm and cool colours. Through varied backgrounds and lighting, we’ll experiment with composition and shadow, with the option to include transparent or reflective objects.
After sketching your composition, you’ll apply paint in a dynamic, expressive way, focusing on colour, brushwork, and effective shadow painting, with guidance and demonstrations provided throughout the day.
