LIMITED LEMONS WORKSHOP

A recent workshop at the beautiful Micklem’s Farm Creative Workshops where the students painted a still life using a limited palette of just 3 colours (plus white).

We were looking to create interesting and unusual compositions, shadow shapes and colour relationships.  Most of the students had not used oils before…I was so impressed how they took it all in their stride and produced such great work.

Setting up and lighting still life with coloured backgrounds.

A quick sketch prior to painting to map out tones

Completed student paintings. Whilst they are all using the same guidelines, I am keen that they have the freedom to find their own style, take some risks and experiment. It’s amazing how different they all are.

Now what to do with 48 lemons??!
