POINTILLIST STILL LIFE WORKSHOP
The great range of short courses on offer @Sunningwell School of Art in Oxfordshire this Easter…’Life in Costume’ was happening in the adjoining room - I was itching to them- it was a riot of colour!
Another tough day at the office 😉
Always look up!
Lunch in the sunshine under the old willow tree.
Meanwhile, in the studio space- when life gives you lemons…why not paint them!
In this workshop we discussed the work of ‘The Pointillists’, adopting their principles to create an ‘Pointillist’ style painting from a Still Life.
It’s not as easy as it looks. You have to consider the colour, shape and direction of every single brushmark, a thousand tiny decisions in one small painting.
Apologies Hilary that I didn’t get a photo of your finished piece - please send it to me if you get a moment and I’ll update this post :)
Painting fom life (not a photo) - great for developing your observational skills and allows you to see the colours in the shadows that get lost in photos.
