Impressionist Landscape

  • Micklems Farm, Knowl Hill Common Knowl Hill Reading, England, RG10 9YD United Kingdom (map)

Level: All levels welcome.

In this workshop, we will explore the work of the Impressionists and apply their principles to create an Impressionist-style painting of a canal boat moored along a towpath, surrounded by lush green trees.
First, we will sketch our composition on the canvas, create a colourful underpainting, then apply the top layer of paint in a loose, vibrant, and dynamic way, inspired by the style of the Impressionists.
Focusing on colour mixing and brushwork, we will aim to capture the subjective, fleeting impression of the scene rather than a precise, detailed representation.

Advice and demonstrations will be provided throughout the day.
