LOOPY LEMONS

Our latest class project was looking at how to paint an abstract still life with a limited palette of just 3 colours plus white. We were trying to simplify the image down to just seeing colours and shapes- with attention paid to the shadow shapes and division of the background space.

Using a limited palette is a really good way of learning about colour temperature and how your colours interact with one another.

It’s really interesting to see how each of the students interpreted the same brief so very differently.

Winter Term: Beginners art classes run from my home studio in Leamington Spa on Monday afternoons starting in January - there are currently 3 spaces available.

Also on Wednesday mornings and afternoon at ‘Micklem’s Farm Creative Workshops’ in Berkshire, starting in January. Please follow the link above to book.

The image above is taken at ‘Micklem’s Farm Creative Workshops’ and shows the ‘Loopy Lemons’ from the beginners classes in progress (bottom row) plus the completed ‘Pumpkin Patch’ project by the Intermediate classes above.
