ABSTRACT SUNFLOWERS WORKSHOP

at Sunningwell School of Art.

This 3 day workshop involved drawing, cutting, collaging, editing, and painting to create an abstract sunflower design, with a focus on colour, composition, shape, and tone.

Starting with careful observation and a loose drawing of some real sunflowers. The students then created a collage using ‘Notan’ theory with tonal papers. Finally, they applied a colour scheme to their ‘Notan’ designs and used it to inform an abstract painting on canvas.
