ALONG THE TOWPATH II

ALONG THE TOWPATH II 8” x 8”

On June 16th I posted a blog post with an impressionist style painting (see last image). I wanted to have another go at the same scene only making a different kind of mark. It had crazy beginnings….but slowly, slowly it came together to create something quite beautiful. I’m not generally a ‘dabby’ painter, but I enjoyed the process….always interesting to see if trying a new style somehow feeds back into your work at a later date.

These paintings have inspired me to create a NEW ‘Impressionist Landscape’ One-Day Workshop. Keep your eye on the ‘Workshops’ tab for dates later in the year.

Process Pics - from image, to underpainting, through to the final painting.

June 16th: “I ended up walking some of the tow path in 'Hockey Heath' last week...it was truly beautiful....I'm not generally a landscape painter but I really wanted to capture the moment in paint.
